Find out more about St John's and St Mary's

Rev'd Ellie began working with the congregation in September 2021 and was licensed by the Most Reverend Bishop Mark as a member of the city team on September 26th. She was then seated at St John's on October 28th, which was the feast day of St Jude and St Simon.

Ellie is supported by the Vestry who are responsible for the governance and upkeep of the church building and its associated surrounds, including the rectory. They ensure the smooth running of the church, and liaise between the priest and the rest of the congregation. All the congregation are involved either in the immediate community surrounding the church, or more widely afield. Their dedication to the church and the events held by and in the church and church hall are what keeps this church an established part of the community.

The church of St John's Inverness has a very long association with the town of Inverness. The present location was the former site of the Chapel of St Columba, with the first and second sites of St John's in Church Street. The history of St John's extends as far back as 1691.
